Tips for mousekeeping?

We are heading to WDW this weekend and staying in the Fort Wilderness Cabins. It is just two adults and we will be there 8 nights total. Do we need to tip the maid? And if so, how much should we tip for cleaning the cabin?

We’ve always camped in our motorhome, so I wasn’t even aware that you should tip a maid.

17th trip in 4 days!!!
Confused = Thanks, you’ve been a huge help

As a former housekeeper for Walt Disney World, tips were always greatly appreciated, but not mandatory. after all we do clean up all the messes in the rooms. The average tip is $2 a day, unless you think the housekeeper did an awesome job, then tip them extra if you feel necessary.

Mousekeeping? Is that what they call it at WDW? You know, like Mickey Mouse? Haha.

You don’t have to tip the maid, but if you want to, a couple bucks is fine. I’ve never tipped a maid.

For good service I generally go with the $2 a day.

I think the suggested rate is $1 per person per night. And, I usually leave a bigger tip on the last night, as I assume that mousekeeper has a bit more work to do to ready the room for the next guest.

If you goggle mousekeeping envelopes, I’m sure some websites will pop up that have cute envelopes you can print out, if you like.

All housekeepers really appreciate a tip and will show their gratitude in the service they provide. For example you may get extra towels, shampoo, shower gel, etc.

$2.00-$3.00 would be appropriate per day. It’s necessary you leave a tip on a daily basis as sometimes you will not get the same person to clean your room. Make certain you leave the money in an envelope labeled housekeeping. Or at the very least leave a note on the cash so they’ll know to take it.

I personally prefer to keep the room tidy myself, use my own disinfectants and not use mousekeeping at all except to exchange towels and sheets, replenish soaps, etc. (we’re sure to tip them, too). However, we’ve had some good experiences with mousekeeping in the past when we have had them come in and clean. We always leave a tip and get excellent service. In addition to that they’ll make towel art and leave it for my daughter or pose her stuffed animals in various positions. They just seem to add that special "magic" to the room and bring a smile to my daughter’s face.

I can hardly wait for you to get back from Fort Wilderness as I have a ton of questions concerning this "resort". We’ve never stayed there but have considered it many times.
